Choose which apps to block
Koodos uses Apple's Family Activity Picker — the same UI you may have seen in iOS's built-in Screen Time. It lets you select individual apps, whole categories, or specific websites to manage.
How to choose apps
- Open Koodos on your child's iPhone or iPad.
- Tap Configure profile for the mode you want to set (Locked, Homework, Bedtime, or Free Time).
- The Family Activity Picker opens.
- Tap Apps to pick individual apps, or Categories to block whole groups (Social, Games, Entertainment, etc.).
- Tap Done when you're finished.
You set this per mode
Each mode — Locked, Homework, Bedtime, Free Time — has its own app selection. This lets you tailor blocking to context:
- Homework — block social, games, and entertainment; allow educational apps
- Bedtime — block almost everything
- Free Time — usually no apps blocked, or a small set you'd rather they avoid
- Locked — block everything (for full screen-free time)
See Block modes for more on how the modes work together.
Categories vs individual apps
Picking categories is faster and future-proof — if your child installs a new social app, it's covered automatically. Individual apps give you finer control.
You can mix both — block the Games category, plus a specific YouTube and Instagram, plus allow Khan Academy.
Changes apply immediately
When you save the picker, the new selection takes effect right away.
