Grant Screen Time permission on iOS
Koodos uses Apple's Screen Time framework to block apps. Without this permission, the app can't enforce any rules — so this is the most important step.
During setup
When you first open Koodos on an iPhone or iPad, you'll see a system pop-up asking to allow Screen Time access. Tap Continue, then Allow when prompted.
That's it. Koodos can now block apps.
If you accidentally tapped "Don't allow"
Don't worry, you can grant permission later:
- Open Settings on the iPhone or iPad.
- Scroll down and tap Screen Time.
- Tap Lock Screen Time Settings, set a Screen Time passcode if asked.
- Open Koodos again. It'll re-prompt for permission.
If you've already set up Screen Time for this device before, iOS may not show the prompt again. In that case:
- Open Settings → Screen Time.
- Look for Family Activity Picker or Apps and Websites access.
- Find Koodos in the list and enable it.
Why does Koodos need Screen Time?
Screen Time is the only API Apple gives third-party apps for blocking other apps. It runs at the OS level, so blocking still works even if your child force-quits Koodos or restarts the device.
We don't read your child's browsing history or message contents — Screen Time gives us blocking abilities, not surveillance.
