How pairing works
Pairing is how a child device — a PC, iPhone, or iPad — gets linked to a child profile in your parent account. Once paired, that device follows the rules and schedules you set in the Parent App.
The basics
- You open the Parent App, pick the child, and tap Add device. The app shows a QR code and a short pairing code.
- On the child device, the Koodos client shows a pairing screen.
- The child device scans the QR code (or the child types in the code by hand).
- Both sides confirm. The device is now paired to that child profile.
The whole thing takes about 30 seconds.
What gets shared during pairing
The child device learns which child profile it belongs to and starts syncing rules — block schedules, homework windows, bedtime, and so on. The Parent App sees the new device under that child and starts receiving heartbeats (so you can tell it's online).
No personal data leaves the device beyond what's needed to enforce rules and confirm the device is online.
One device per child
A device can only be paired to one child at a time. If you need to move a device to a different child, see Unpair or move a device.
Multiple devices per child
You can pair as many devices to a single child as you want — for example, a school laptop and a home PC both under one child profile. Rules apply to all of them.
