Pairing Devices

Pair a Windows device

After installing Koodos on your child's PC, pair it to your account so you can start managing it.

Step 1 — Open the pairing screen

If you just finished installing Koodos, the client opens automatically to a pairing screen showing a 6-character code and a QR code. Skip to Step 2.

If you closed the window, find Koodos in the Windows Start menu and open it. It returns to the pairing screen if the device isn't paired yet.

Step 2 — Add a device in the Parent App

  1. Open the Parent App.
  2. Tap the child profile this PC belongs to.
  3. Tap Add device.
  4. Choose Windows.
  5. The Parent App opens its camera.

Step 3 — Scan or enter the code

Point the Parent App at the QR code on the PC screen. The pairing happens automatically.

If the camera can't read the QR code (low light, glare), tap Enter code manually and type the 6-character code shown on the PC.

Done

The PC now shows the child's name and current state (Free Time, Homework, Bedtime, etc.). The Parent App lists the new device under that child.

Troubleshooting

  • Make sure the PC has internet. The pairing handshake needs an active connection.
  • Pairing codes expire after a few minutes for security. If yours doesn't work, close the Koodos window and reopen it to get a new code.
  • See Pairing keeps failing for more.
