Unpair or move a device to another child
Need to retire an old device, hand a PC down to a younger sibling, or just start over? Here's how.
From the Parent App
- Open the Parent App.
- Tap the child this device is currently paired to.
- Find the device card and tap it.
- Tap Unpair device.
- Enter your parent PIN to confirm.
The device is now unlinked from that child. If you want to give it to a different child, pair it again — see Pairing a Windows device or Pairing an iPhone or iPad.
From the child device (config screen)
You can also unpair directly from the Koodos client on the child device. Open Koodos, go to Config (or Settings), and tap Unpair. You'll be asked for the parent PIN.
This is useful if the device is being decommissioned and you don't have the Parent App handy.
What happens when you unpair
- The device stops enforcing rules. It returns to a normal, unmanaged state.
- The device's history (activity, screen-time data) stays on the parent account so you can review it later.
- The pairing slot is freed — you can pair the same device to a different child immediately.
I lost the parent PIN
See Reset your parent PIN. You'll need to change the PIN in the Parent App first, then it'll sync to the device.
