Uninstall Koodos from Windows
If you're handing the PC down, returning a school laptop, or just no longer using Koodos, here's how to remove it cleanly.
Why uninstall is PIN-protected
Koodos is a parental control tool — it'd be useless if a child could just uninstall it. That's why removing Koodos prompts for the parent PIN.
If you've forgotten the PIN, reset it from the Parent App first: see Reset your parent PIN.
Step 1 — Open Windows Settings
Press Windows key, type Add or remove programs, and open it.
Step 2 — Find Koodos
Scroll until you see Koodos in the list. Click it, then click Uninstall.
Step 3 — Enter your parent PIN
A small window appears asking for the PIN. Enter the 4-digit code you set when pairing the device.
Step 4 — Confirm
Click Uninstall in the confirmation dialog. Windows removes Koodos and all its components — the launcher, client, Owl service, and updater. This takes about 30 seconds.
After uninstall
- The device is no longer enforced.
- It still appears in the Parent App until you unpair it — see Unpair or move a device.
- All collected screen-time data stays on your parent account.
What if uninstall fails?
If something goes wrong (interrupted uninstall, missing files), there's a fallback uninstaller named KoodosBackup.exe in C:\Program Files\Koodos. Run it as administrator to clean up. You'll still be prompted for the parent PIN.
If even that fails, email support@koodos.app and we'll walk you through it.
